What it is

Vanpelt Studio is a copilot for long-form video. Shorts are an editing problem; the 8, 15, 30-minute videos are a structure problem — and structure is exactly where a solo creator has no team to lean on. The Studio carries a video through the whole arc: shaping the idea into a story spine, organizing the footage, assembling the cut, and packaging it for the finish line.

The footage grind

Every long-form creator knows the wall: hours of dead footage, and no way through it. Vanpelt Studio sorts and scavenges the mountain — surfacing the moments worth keeping and turning them into edits.

One canvas, from idea to finished video

1. Shape the idea. Start with a rough idea; the copilot helps shape it into the beats and structure a long-form video actually needs.
2. Bring in your footage. Clips are transcribed and organized locally — tagged, searchable, ready to work with in minutes, not hours.
3. Bring it together. Assemble the story on one canvas. The copilot lines up the right clips, flags what's missing, and helps the cut take shape.
4. Carry it to the finish. Package the title and thumbnail, hand a ready-to-cut project to your editor (like DaVinci Resolve), and ship a video you're proud of.

The Studio plans, organizes, and assembles — the creator keeps full control of the final edit in their own editor.

Local-first, by design

Your footage never leaves your machine. Transcription runs on-device with Whisper, ffmpeg handles the media, and only derived text — transcripts, the beat sheet, never raw media — is sent to Claude for reasoning and story-checks. It's your work, on your disk, the way it should be.

Creators bring their own Anthropic API key: full cost control and privacy, nothing marked up, no middleman between footage-derived text and the model. A fully-managed plan is coming after launch.
